South America

The two most biodiverse countries in the world are found in South America – Brazil and Colombia – and BCSF work in both of them.  One of the best known ecosystems in the world is the Amazon rainforest, but less well known are the lowland forests of the Atlantic forest and the lowland forests alongside the foothills of the northern Andes, and we have elected to work in these lesser known areas, which are at risk from illegal logging, and demand for agricultural land and illegal crops.  The slash and burn clearance of the forests means that once they are cleared, they are gone for good, along with the animals that live there.

Check out our projects for the latest update on our work in South America.
